SYSTEMIC LUPUS

"At the age of 16 I began to experience circulation problems, and irritable bowel syndrome. By 21 I was diagnosed with full blown systemic lupus erythematosus. I was put on large doses of drugs to suppress my immune system with side effects that weakened me. I needed help with the simplest things such as getting dressed, and spent the following months sleeping more and more. CROHN'S DISEASE

“I have had Crohn's disease for approximately 25 years. Thanks to my mother I have avoided surgery and major reliance on medications, but I have been far from symptom free. As anyone with Crohn's can attest, it affects every aspect of your life. I don’t go out a lot, and I never go out if I don’t know what the washroom situation is going to be. I work in construction so my health and ability to be active is very important. In the last couple of years I have noticed an increase in my bouts of pain and a marked decrease in my level of energy. LOW ENERGY

“Before taking Dimension 4 my energy level was lower than was normal for me – I would fluctuate between high energy & low energy a few times a day. It was like being on a roller coaster. As a result my concentration was inconsistent. I felt lethargic and required at least 8 hours or more of sleep, but I would wake up feeling more tired than when I went to sleep. These symptoms increased while I was on Paxil 10 mg. I felt disconnected somehow from my own body. ULCERATIVE COLITIS

“For many years I suffered recurring bouts of colitis and irritable bowel. I often found myself in some emergency room receiving shots of Demerol. I always had to be careful of what I ate and where I ate. Going out for meals was always a dilemma because of all the additives and artificial seasonings that are used in prepared foods. I had resigned myself to the holistic way of dealing with colitis and irritable bowel by avoiding “bad” foods for me. CHRONIC BOWEL DISEASE

“Brief Medical History: In the fall of 1999 I started a downhill health spiral.  It started with strep throat, went on to double pneumonia. The antibiotics were so harsh that I had severe stomach cramps and diarrhea for a couple of weeks.  Unfortunately the stomach problems didn't go away.  I started having severe weight loss, 16 lbs in 45 days.  Foods were bothering me more and more.  With the weight loss followed fatigue and several more pneumonias.  I was hospitalized 8 times in the next 3 years.  My lowest weight was 78 lbs.  I was tested for everything; they found I had chronic bowel disease and was given Dicetal to take with food.  This did help but there were many, many foods I could not eat and weight gain was very difficult.  I could not get over 90 lbs.  In the fall of 2003 I got a stomach flu and went down to 82 lbs.  I then started not absorbing fats.  With every bowel movement (always diarrhea) big globs of oily fat would be floating in the water.  I always had lots of cramps, frequent vomiting, sweats, etc.  I was about to be tested for fat absorption when I first started with Dimension 4.  Within 48 hours the oily slick had stopped; the cramps and diarrhea gone.  There was a soft, but solid, bowel movement every morning.  At the end of four days I started trying foods that I had been unable to eat for about 5-6 years.  In the first two weeks I went from 86 lbs to 92 lbs.  (weight taken by G.P. every two weeks).  Next 2 weeks 92lbs to 102lbs!  I go for my next weigh in tomorrow, March 26.  I still take all my other medications, Premplus, hormone replacement, Dicetal digestive, Tylenol 3 , 2 every 3-4 hours (On T-3 for three years). I feel like my life has had a dramatic change.  As I gain weight my fatigue is less, my energy is up, and the borderline depression that accompanies chronic pain diseases has lessened considerably.  My life has changed so much.  To feel hungry and be able to eat pain free is a privilege I thought I would never have again!”
